Chamula head piece

"Chamula" is a beautiful collaboration that Supernaturae developed with a group of women from the community of San Juan Chamula in Chiapas, Mexico. It is a small part of the ancestral knowledge and history of this special place in the mountains. An artisanal and traditional piece representing the traditional clothing of these women and their incredible work. It is an honour for us to be able to tell you a little bit about them, as well as where this precious piece woven with wool and ribbon in iridescent copper tone comes from.

San Juan Chamula is a Tzotzil village in the mountains of Chiapas. It is noted for the incomparable beauty of its landscapes and its handicrafts and embroidery. Most of the time the weather is very cold, which is why they work with wool. The weavings in turn reflect their stories and relationship to the world from on high.
