WELLNESS: Zoe from WunderWorkshop

Zoe runs the wonderful company WunderWorkshop, a London based food brand making organic turmeric based products; consumption with a purpose.

WUNDER WORKSHOP is inspired by Ayurveda and uses functional ingredients to maximize life‘s potential, enabling you to live better, work harder and to be stronger (for longer!).

They make the delicious Golden Milk which uses organic turmeric directly sourced from an independent farm in the heart of Sri Lanka, supporting its farmers and local community.

As an expert on healthy foods that make you feel and function better, I asked Zoe to make me some recipes that show how to incorporate these magic ingredients.   Here are late summer recipes - an afternoon tonic and a refreshing turmeric ice cream. Enjoy!

For the late summer days we love this afternoon rejuvenation tonic that is full of refreshing sweetness and spice.

  • 3 cups unpasteurized coconut water

  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger root sliced

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

  • 1/2 tsp raw honey (or Golden Turmeric Honey)

  • Pinch cayenne pepper

  • Pinch black pepper

  • 1 lime, cut in quarters and squeezed

Combine the ingredients in a sealable glass jar, shake gently and then refrigerate for 6 hours or more to let all the flavours infuse. Use a strainer when pouring into a glass, serve chilled with fresh mint leaves (optional).

  • 1 Can coconut milk with the coconut cream (400ml)

  • 2 tbsp Instantly Golden Turmeric latte blend by Wunder Workshop (alternatively use 1tsp Turmeric, 1 tsp Cinnamon, pinch black pepper)

  • 1tsp vanilla extract

  • 1cm cube ginger (remove the skin)

  • 1 cup cashews (soak 2 hours)

  • 1tbsp raw honey

Soak a cup of cashews for 2 hours and at the same time prepare one deep baking tray (e.g. bread baking tray) and fill it with parchment paper and put in freezer for 2 hours whilst the cashews are soaking.

Strain the cashews and blend them with all the other ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Remove the frozen baking tray from the freezer and pour the blend into the tray. Leave in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
